PL84U AL-SUFFA attends an Evening of Faith Celebration and Recognition with the Three Faiths Forum and the Greater London Lieutenancy’s Council on Faith

PL84U AL-SUFFA was the guest of the Three Faiths Forum on Monday 27 November at an Evening of Faith Recognition and Celebration, held with the support of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith. The evening – celebrating the role charities have in creating a sense of belonging and togetherness for the capital’s diverse communities – was introduced by Kenneth Olisa, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Greater London, a strong advocate of the benefit faith brings to society.

PL84U AL-SUFFA was one of 40 projects being awarded a £500 grant to further it’s work, we are a cross community interfaith initiative providing hot meals and companionship to elderly, homeless and people in need from faith and non faith groups. WE bring together diverse communities facing hardships. Our key aim is to help tackle poverty, cultural deprivation and isolation. By partnering with institutes relevant to our ‘guests’ needs. We provide a safety net for the vulnerable.

The prize win will ensure that we are able to continue to provide hot meals for our guests in an indoor environment. Representatives from a range of community groups joined Three Faiths Forum and the Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith to continue the discussion on the benefit of community centric, faith led projects.

Speaking after the evening, PL84U AL-SUFFA said, “It is an honour to receive the 3FF’s award, a great inspirational evening to have met with so many wonderful institutions working for the ‘common good’ of serving humanity”

3FF director, Phil Champain commented, “Faith and belief networks are instrumental in drawing people together and encouraging positive progress. Small, local projects pay close attention to the needs of a local area yet all too often their work goes unheard. Thriving communities depend on everyone being given the opportunity to participate as fully as possible, without facing barriers due to their race or faith.”

3FF’s sentiment was echoed by the Chair of Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith, Dr David Dangoor, who added, “We are delighted to have met with a such a large number of groups this evening. They have made it their mission to increase wellbeing within their local community, helping individuals build a sense of belonging within London and build bridges across communities of all faiths and beliefs. The event is primarily about celebration and recognition but I hope that practically it will inspire more ideas and projects.”
